Boz's Remixes
From BozNet
Hello everyone! On this page you'll find information about the various Commodore 64 (and other) remixes that I've done. Unless otherwise stated, all downloadable material is in MP3 format, at 128Kbps stereo.
Some of these tunes are available on R:K:O, but I thought I'd put them here so they're all in one place, along with the tunes that aren't actually on there.
This list is in reverse chronological order. That's a posh way of saying it's newest stuff at the top, oldest stuff at the bottom!
Commando High-Score (Vanguard a-Go Go)
Originally composed as 'Hubbard_Rob/Commando.sid' on the C64 by Rob Hubbard, ©1985.
This is the second version of the song; it's faster and has a trance feel to it. The lead is also back in on this version. Like the previous version, it's really only meant as a bed for when I'm doing a show; but once again Chilli_UK bullied me (in a nice way!) into making it publicly available. He had to wait a little while for this version though, because I have been sans l'internet for bloody ages, thanks to my telco!

Commando High-Score
Originally composed as 'Hubbard_Rob/Commando.sid' on the C64 by Rob Hubbard, ©1985.
Remixed by Boz on 01-Jun-2006. Song length 02:00.
There are two versions planned of this song: One without the lead, and one with. So far I've done the one without. This is actually meant as just a Bed (background tune) when I'm doing a radio show, but Chilli_UK (a regular listener) bitched on and on for SO long about getting a version, so...!

Chimera Subtune 2, Version 2
Originally composed as 'Hubbard_Rob/Chimera.sid' on the C64 by Rob Hubbard, ©1986.
Remixed by Boz on 25-Feb-2006. Song length 06:01.
This is an updated (actually, redone) version of the Chimera Subtune 2 I did, and was done so that I could learn Renoise. Some people prefer v1, some people v2. Make your own mind up ;-)

Think Twice III (Now You're Not Here)
Originally composed as 'Think Twice III' on the C64 by Jeroen Kimmel (Red), ©1987.
Remixed by Perhaps-a-Doobie on 05-Dec-2004. Song length 02:57.
Perhaps-a-Doobie is back with this sentimental power-ballad, where he sings about losing his love, but finding a new one in the New Year. Brings a tear to your eye, it does.

SLL1 (Disco Mix)
Originally composed as 'SLL1(*)' on the Amiga by Sten Lysholm Larsen (SLL), ©1990.
Remixed by Boz on 01-Aug-2003. Song length 02:33.
There's some confusion on which tune is SLL1 and which tune is SLL3 with some people - but this tune is SLL1 on my original ST-00 disk on my Amiga, so that's what I'm going to call it! It's the disco-sounding one, anyway. I've updated the sounds and made it a mix of a more modern dance with some retro sounds in there. I started it off a long time ago, but finished it when Kenz was looking for a dance track to go with a video he was doing.

Glider Rider (Happy Clappy Mix)
Originally composed as 'Glider Rider' on the C64 by David Whittaker, ©1986.
Remixed by Boz on 11-May-2003. Song length 04:38.
This "handbag house" remix of Whittaker's Glider Rider was originally composed for Back in Time Live Brighton, to be used as background music and for when the disco set started. I don't think it was actually used in the end! But I like it because of the choir 'Ah's that have hanging chords, and the beat keeps you going.

Atari Robot Demo
Originally composed as 'Robot Demo' on the Atari by (Unknown), ©1985.
Remixed by Boz on 18-Dec-2002. Song length 04:05.
This is a breakbeat remix of the tune that accompanied a demo of a walking robot on the Atari 800, sensibly called the Robot Demo. It's been speeded up, mixed around and beefed up into this track I did originally in 2000, but re-visited in 2002. I recommend that you watch the video to this if you have the bandwidth to do so!

Honorabili Killed RKO
Originally composed as 'Honorabili Killed RKO' on the by Spooftraxx, ©2002.
Remixed by Spooftraxx on 01-Sep-2002. Song length 05:28.
Based on an eighties pop hit, this is a story of a certain remixer on RKO who had a lot of helpful hints given to him on the Remix64 forum, as he had just started. But he decided that his stuff was already perfect, and took offence to all of the help, to the point that he was ridiculed. This tune, by a group called SpoofTraxx, is dedicated to that time in 2002.

1942 High Score (You Were There)
Originally composed as '1942 (High Score Theme)' on the C64 by Mark Cooksey, ©1986.
Remixed by Perhaps-a-Doobie on 06-May-2002. Song length 02:54.
The lounge singer returns, but this time he's in the studio, singing along to Mark Cookey's 1942 High Score theme. Louis Armstrong makes a cameo appearance, too! At the end of the song, the lounge singer gets all emotional about the C64 remix scene. Bless him!
This is the P-a-D piece that I'm most proud of, but most people still prefer the Monty tune!

Monty on the Run High Score (Lounge Singer Mix)
Originally composed as 'Monty on the Run High-Score Theme' on the C64 by Rob Hubbard, ©1985.
Remixed by Perhaps-a-Doobie on 29-Oct-2001. Song length 02:14.
This is the Monty on the Run High-Score theme, as performed by a "lounge singer", i.e. some bloke at a Working Men's club in England with a synthesizer (or in this case, a drum machine), trying to croon along. This is Perhaps-a-Doobie's most famous piece, as it scored highly on Remix64's charts and officially makes babies laugh!

Arkanoid (Vocanoid Mix)
Originally composed as 'Arkanoid' on the C64 by Martin Galway, ©1987.
Remixed by Perhaps-a-Doobie on 23-Oct-2001. Song length 02:25.
This is P-a-D's vocal re-enactment of Martin Galway's excellent Arkanoid. It was composed within two days after a sudden inspiration!

Panther
Originally composed as 'Panther' on the C64 by David Whittaker, ©1986.
Remixed by Boz on 15-Sep-2000. Song length 04:31.
This is one of my favourite Whittaker tracks, and also one of my most atmospheric remixes. It all came together well after finally mastering the tweakings between my E-Synth and Cakewalk (now Sonar). Also used in an Atari games video.

Monty on the Run High-Score Theme
Originally composed as 'Monty on the Run High-Score Theme' on the C64 by Rob Hubbard, ©1985.
Remixed by Boz on 20-Aug-2000. Song length 06:23.
This is quite an old remix that I did on FastTracker 2, but it doesn't sound too bad because of it. With a drum sample that was used in "Set Adrift in Memory Bliss", the tune is laid back but with a bouncy beat. It's also Skitz's favorite of mine!
Interesting anecdote: I was round Skitz's house, and he decided to "tune in" to CrapRadio.com for the first time. What's the first tune we hear? Yep, this one! Spooky or what?

Uridium (Disco Extendo Mix)
Originally composed as 'Uridium' on the C64 by Steve Turner, ©1985.
Remixed by Boz on 26-Jun-2000. Song length 02:52.
This is quite an old piece now, but I am still proud of it because it's still one of the few Uridium remixes around. I had the idea for the tune when I ws 15, but it wasn't until just before my 30th birthday that it actually came into fruition!
It's a sort of a disco-meets-electro type of mix, that plays the main tune once, and then goes into a 12-inch "bring everything back slowly" type of affair.
